How to Submit a Study Group Proposal

Like other OLLIs, we will offer a variety of member-organized and member-led study groups on a broad range of subjects, among them: literature; creative arts; history and government; philosophy and theology; science and technology; and contemporary issues. OLLI staff members are available to provide advice and assistance.

First Step:

  • Download and print the Study Group Proposal (PDF, 120K)
Fill out the form and either drop it off or mail to: OLLI, 2021 South First Street, Champaign, IL 61820.
  • OR cut and paste this plain text into an email message, complete the questions, and send to OLLI@uiuc.edu.
Print forms are available in the OLLI Lounge.

Next Steps:

  • Once approved by the Curriculum Committee, the proposed study group will be posted on the OLLI Web site. Notices will also be sent out via OLLI-News and posted in the OLLI Lounge.
  • Members can express interest via the Web site or by filling out an interest sheet in the OLLI Lounge.
  • At least six members must be interested in the topic for the study group to move forward.
  • If there is sufficient interest among members, OLLI staff contacts the member who wishes to facilitate the group to discuss study group logistics.
  • Meeting dates and times are communicated to interested Study Group participants.
  • OLLI study group facilitator attends a one hour facilitator training session.
See the OLLI at Northwestern University for an example of a well-established program of study groups.
