Instructors

OLLI instructors are current and retired University of Illinois faculty and members of the community who are excited about teaching an enthusiastic group of learners in a new way. No tests to prepare or papers to grade, just teaching and holding discussions with interested and engaged students.

OLLI Curriculum Committee members recruit and recommend courses and instructors after receiving suggestions from OLLI members. Instructors are asked to prepare information about their courses for review by the full Curriculum Committee. [Download course proposal guidelines (PDF)]

There are several formats for OLLI classes:

  • Six or eight week lecture/discussion classes, held once each week for one and one-half hours;
  • A Lunchtime Lecture or lecture series, with the length to be determined by the instructors and the subjects; and
  • Study groups facilitated by OLLI members. (Classes in facilitator training will be available for those who are interested in facilitating or co-facilitating a group.)
Members are encouraged to send suggestions for courses and/or faculty members to OLLI@uiuc.edu.
